Monarch
By invitation

Water, made weightless.

Monarch is a handheld, cordless cold-mist atomizer for skin and hair. Nothing boils and nothing is heated — vibration alone breaks distilled water, hydrosols, or your own blend of essential oils into a mist fine enough to settle rather than soak.

How it works

Cold mist, made by vibration

A steam humidifier boils water. Monarch does not. There is no heating element anywhere in the device — the liquid is shaken apart into droplets and leaves the nozzle at room temperature.

01

Fill the vial

Vials are refillable and swap in by hand. Distilled water is the baseline; add a hydrosol or a few drops of essential oil when you want the mist to carry something.

02

Vibration does the work

The element vibrates fast enough to shear the liquid into droplets too small to see individually. There is no heating element, no steam and no boiling — the mist leaves cool.

03

It settles, it does not soak

Because the droplets are so small they hang in the air and land evenly. Point it at skin and hair, hold it up to humidify a room, or sweep it across linens and leaves.

Handheld and cordless

Not another thing that lives on a table.

Almost every atomizer and diffuser you can buy today is an appliance. It sits on a shelf, stays plugged into a wall, and mists the room it happens to be standing in. Monarch is the other way round: it is small enough to hold, it runs off its own battery, and it charges over USB-C from the same cable as everything else you own.

It comes to the dryness

You bring it to your face, to the ends of your hair, to the plant on the far windowsill. A tabletop unit can only mist whatever is standing next to it.

Nothing to plug in

Over four hours of runtime on a charge, and a USB-C port when it needs one. No outlet to find, no cord to route, no fixed spot on the counter.

It still sets down

The shell rests flat on its own. Put it on a nightstand or a desk and it becomes a cold humidifier for the room — so it does the tabletop job too, and then leaves with you.

The object

Small enough to hold, steady enough to set down.

The shell is a soft, four-point form that sits in a palm without needing a grip, and rests flat on a surface without a stand. The vial slots into the back and refills by hand — there is nothing proprietary to buy and nothing sealed to throw away.

Refill it from a jug of distilled water, not a subscription.

Two vials and two wicks in every kit, and both swap by hand — no pods and no cartridges.

USB-C on the body, and the cable comes in the box.

What to atomize

Water, and what you choose to carry in it

Monarch was designed around three fills. Each one atomizes the same way, and each one reaches you exactly as it went into the vial.

Distilled water

The everyday fill. Distilled keeps mineral scale off the element and mineral residue off your skin, which is why we recommend it over tap.

Hydrosols

Rose, chamomile, lavender, witch hazel — floral and botanical waters atomize as readily as plain water and carry their scent into the mist.

Essential oils in water

A few drops in a vial of water is enough. The mist carries whatever is in the vial, so start with less than you think you need.

Know your fill

Monarch atomizes what you put into it — nothing more, nothing less. There is no heat and no filtration, so the mist carries whatever the vial holds. Know how your skin, hair and lungs respond to a hydrosol or an oil before you atomize it.

Ways to use it

One device, pointed at whatever is dry.

Monarch is not a face-only gadget. It is a fine-particle mister, and a fine-particle mister is useful in more places than a spray bottle is.
Skin

A cool, even veil over the face and body. No propellant, no spray-bottle droplets running down your cheek.

Hair

Damps curls and coils without flattening them, and revives a style without soaking it through.

A room

Set it down and it works as a cold humidifier — useful in dry heat, on a nightstand, or beside a desk.

Surfaces

Linens, plants, a pillow before bed. Anything you would reach for a spray bottle to do, at a much finer particle size.

Away from home

Cordless and palm-sized, so it travels in a bag and works on a plane, in a hotel room, at a desk or in the car.

Between clients

Salon chairs, treatment rooms and studios — it moves from station to station instead of tying up an outlet at one of them.

Questions

Before you ask for one

No. Monarch is a cold atomizer. The mist is created by vibration rather than by boiling, so nothing in the vial is heated on its way out.

No, and this is the important difference between a cold atomizer and a steam humidifier. Boiling leaves most dissolved and suspended matter behind; vibration does not. Whatever is in the vial ends up in the air, which is why we recommend distilled water and why you should know an ingredient before you atomize it.

Distilled water, hydrosols, and essential oil drops in water are what we designed around and what we recommend. What you actually choose to atomize is your decision and your responsibility — see the terms and liability waiver.

A tabletop diffuser is an appliance: it stays plugged into a wall and mists whatever room it stands in. Monarch is handheld and cordless, so you take it to what needs misting — your face, the ends of your hair, a plant across the room, a bag you are travelling with. Set it down and it still works as a cold humidifier, so it does the tabletop job as well, and then leaves with you.

It charges over USB-C, from the same cable as your phone or laptop, and runs for over four hours on a single charge.

Yes. Vials refill and swap by hand — there are no sealed pods or proprietary cartridges to buy. Every kit ships with two vials and two wicks, so you have a spare of each from the start.

Yes. Held, it is an atomizer for skin, hair and surfaces. Set down and left running, it is a cold humidifier for the space around it.

One Monarch in your chosen finish, two refillable vials, two wicks and a USB-C cable — everything the device needs from day one, including spares of the parts you swap.

Monarch is $49.95, plus shipping worked out from your actual address rather than a flat rate padded to cover the worst case. Nothing is owed up front: a PayPal invoice with both figures itemised arrives only once your unit is built and about to ship. Orders take up to three weeks to fill — sometimes less, if a finished unit in your finish is already on the bench.

No — all sales are final. Monarch is an invitation-only beta: units are built to order in small batches, so once your invoice is paid we do not take returns, exchanges or cancellations, and we do not refund a change of mind, a finish you decided against, or a fill that turned out not to suit you. What we do instead is stay with you — write to us and a person answers, for as long as you own the unit. We will also put right anything genuinely wrong: a parcel the carrier loses, a unit that arrives damaged or will not power on, or the wrong finish in the box. Nothing in our policy overrides rights your own country does not let you waive. Please read the returns sections of the terms before you accept an invitation.

That you are among the first people outside the workshop to use one. Units are assembled by hand in small numbers, so finish and fit vary a little between them; parts, packaging, price and the contents of the kit may change between batches; and we cannot promise that any particular spare, accessory or future version will be offered later. In exchange you get us — direct, unqueued, for as long as you own the unit. All sales are final, and the price reflects that you are the one taking the risk on something new.

Send a message through this site. Monarch is currently offered on an invite basis, and we reply to the requests we can fill. When we do, we ask two things: which of the four finishes you would like — Marble, Gold, Clay or Slate — and a full delivery address, including country, so we can work out your exact shipping.

Request an invitation

Monarch is offered by invitation.

We are building in small batches, so units are released to a list rather than a storefront. Send a note about how you would use one and we will come back to you. When a place opens, you choose a finish and give us a delivery address — and nothing is owed until your unit is built and about to go out.

$49.95 plus shipping worked out from your address — no padded flat rate

Nothing is owed when you write. A PayPal invoice — the price plus itemised shipping — arrives only once your unit is built and about to ship. Allow up to three weeks; sooner if a finished unit in your finish is already on the bench.

All sales are final. Beta units are built to order, so once an invoice is paid there are no returns, exchanges or refunds for a change of mind. If one never arrives, arrives damaged or arrives dead, we put it right — and we stay with you for as long as you own it.

Before you send

Monarch atomizes whatever you put in the vial, without heat and without filtration, and beta units are sold with all sales final. Please read the terms of use and liability waiver and the returns policy before requesting a unit.
